Thematic Working Group in Charge of the Healthcare System Approves Report It Elaborated

Speaker of House of Representatives Habib El Malki presided on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at the House, a meeting of the Thematic Working Group in Charge of the Healthcare System to approve the report prepared by the Group.

On this occasion, the Speaker of the House of Representatives noted that the creation of the Thematic Working Group in Charge of the Healthcare System came to implement the directives of His Majesty the King where he called for speeding up the reform of the healthcare system, the development and advance of the health sector, and the generalization of the social protection to address the various economic and social repercussions of COVID-19. In the same respect, he stated, "We, Moroccans, should be proud of the enlightened vision and strategic and proactive approach of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, which have enabled our country to fight the pandemic through several initiatives and measures at numerous levels to mitigate the repercussions of the pandemic. This has made of Morocco a role model in comparison to other world countries."

Mr. El Malki affirmed the importance of the report prepared by the Group, especially considering "the peculiar juncture that our country and the world are undergoing due to the propagation of COVID-19." The Speaker lauded the quality of the product and commended the cooperation of all the concerned sectors, institutions, experts, and researchers, who shared with the House their vision and conception of the healthcare system. He also noted that the Group worked following a participatory scientific methodological approach and engaged all the actors of the healthcare system. In this respect, it held numerous hearing sessions that were an important opportunity to present information and data relating to the reality and the prospects of the healthcare system.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives called for implementing the scientific and pertinent recommendations included in the report of the Thematic Working Group in Charge of the Healthcare System by all the actors, including the Parliament, the Government, public institutions, and the actors of the healthcare system. He also highlighted that the Group elaborated prominent suggestions and recommendations relating to the health coverage and financing, the governance of the healthcare system, the exercise of medical and paramedical jobs, scientific research, infrastructure, and the health map.

Upon the accomplishment by the Thematic Working Group of its works and the approval of its report on the healthcare system, the House has decided to hold a plenary sitting next week to present and discuss the report by the representatives.
